My Approach

Feeling helpless and unable to cope can be an overwhelming and lonely experience, which is often hard to share with someone.

I offer a private and confidential counselling service based on person-centred values promoting client autonomy.

By creating a safe, non-judgemental and empathic environment, my clients' can explore their individual needs and difficulties.

I adopt an integrative style of counselling using a variety of techniques from different theoretical models, and I aim to provide the opportunity and conditions for my clients' to work towards living in a more satisfying and manageable way.

I value the importance and significance of the client/counsellor relationship - the nurturing of which, I believe, is instrumental to the therapeutic process.

As a registered member of the BACP, I work ethically, and am fully committed to the principles of confidentiality and client safety.

I also undertake regular supervision to ensure continued professional practice, and attend courses to enhance my professional development.

I am aware of how daunting the process of finding a counsellor can be for potential clients', and how important it is to connect with the right counsellor for them.

This awareness is reflected in my first session with a client. In a relaxed and safe environment, this exploratory hour provides the opportunity for clients' to outline their issues, discuss any expectations of counselling, learn about the the type of counselling on offer, etc.

The first session allows both client and counsellor to get a 'feel' for each other and decide whether to continue with further sessions.
